Cardiovascular Training Insight

August 20th, 2008

There’s a trade-off mark, with regards to the optimal level of energy derived from fat, during aerobic activity (cardiovascular training).

At lower levels of intensity, your body does derive a higher percentage of its energy from fat over glycogen - however - as you’re exercising at a lower intensity, your body requires less -overall- energy.

However, at high intensity, your body uses a predominantly glycogen driven energy derivation - where you require a higher level of energy overall. This is where you may see the trade-off for optimal intensity.

We all have various levels of intensity - because we all perceive exertion differently, and because we’re all at various levels of fitness … therefore it would be remiss of me to discuss a specific “setting”. However, as a general -level- of -intensity-, aim for 60%. Your maximal effort is 100%, so roughly gauge your ‘60%’ effort, and utilise this as your “speed” of ‘walking’ which likely will extend to jogging or running again, depending on your level of fitness.

It’s important to be honest with yourself. Intensity often has direct correlations with your actual training gains.

As for your incline requirements - you may use this if you wish … however, as an incline will add difficulty, you’d likely have to decrease your speed to maintain the same level of intensity - (if you were jogging on a flat setting, you may wish to speed walk if you’re on an incline).

While some cardiovascular training can possibly assist - it greatly depends on the trainers goals - where a bodybuilder has absolutely no requirement or necessity to training their aerobic system. Quite simply, they’re after pure hypertrophy which in effect, will have strong impact on their body fat levels. The key for their body fat regulation actually stems from their nutrition / dietary factor, in conjunction with their heightened metabolic rate due to increased muscle.

As for the “in theory there are some basics” - It is not theory, it’s proven, practical and legitimate. You may ask different trainers and achieve different responses - though this does not at all indicate more accurate, or applicable responses.

For example –> You can ask a number of people regarding nutrition, and I’m certain there’ll be “someone” out there who’ll suggest that a Lemonade Diet, or Low CHO diet would be useful for weight loss - when in reality they’re both terrible options.

Of course there are “different strategies” to reach the same (or similar) result - that is the joy of exercise science and the ability to apply it in a range of ways - however, there are certainly optimal or ideal solutions that would ‘best fit’ … (even though some body types are better suited to alternate methods).

While you may claim to already be ‘aware’ of much of the ‘basics” - (even though it’s actually not that basic), you must realise there are others in the group that may benefit from extra information - hence the reason some of this additional information was included.

Lastly, to address something from your original post - the inference that “fat burning” doesn’t occur in the first 20-25 minutes is completely untrue. Beyond the simplistic view that energy in -v- energy out dictates body fat levels, you’re using energy immediately, and depending on the intensity level(s) will ofcourse “burn fat” immediately. Again, dietary and nutritional factors are a heavy influence on your results.

Why You Should Separate to Save Your Marriage

August 20th, 2008

When most married people hear the word “separate,” the one thing that inevitably follows in their mind is “divorce.” However, that doesn’t necessarily always have to be the case, provided both of you are willing to do whatever it takes to save your marriage and avoid the stress and heartache that comes along with divorce. In some instances, the old clich

Bodybuilding Myths and the Importance of Fiber

August 20th, 2008

Here’s some bodybuilding myths:

1) if I work out that gives me a free pass to eat whatever I want because I will just burn it off. People nutrition is like 80% of the equation here….there is a saying you are what you eat. Just because you worked out for 2 hours on the treadmill doesn’t give you the green light to have 3 slices of pizza

2) If I lift weights I will get to bulky. This one is directed to all the women out there….IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR YOU TO GET “BIG” your body just doesn’t produce enough of the hormones required to build muscle so dont worry. And that “tone” look all of you are going after is just muscle without fat covering it so hit the iron.

3) Cardio burns more then fat. This is true at the time of exercise, you will burn more fat running then lifting weights. But when you lift weights your metabolism will stay elevated for the next 2-3 hours where as with cardio 30 minutes at the max and or the second you put food into your mouth. so my advice….do both

4) Carbs make me fat. this is not true…..it is the type of carbs you eat that will make you fat. this is such a complex topic that I will just say this….stay away from white flour and proccessed carbs and you will be fine. Eat whole grains.

5) Turning muscle into fat or fat into muscle. I am sorry to say this is impossible. there is no way you can turn a muscle fiber into a fat cell they are two completely different things. You can take away fat cells by losing weight or if they are inactive for long enough muscle fibers will atrophy(get smaller) but you can’t change one into the other.

Fiber should be a daily staple in your diet. And I don’t mean taking an occasional fiber supplement when you are “clogged up” but eating foods with fiber everyday. The RDA for fiber is around 25-35 grams a day, the lower end of the scale is more for women and the higher end is for men. Did you know the average American only consumes around 5 grams of fiber a day!!!

so whats so important about fiber that we need to eat it in such large amounts. well first off it will keep you regular and it will be easier to go to the bathroom. second, by going to the bathroom more regularly it allows your body to get rid of the cholestrol that has binded to fiber during digestion so it can actually lower your cholestrol. besides that it can actually lower your risk of colon cancer because all the harmful waste products are excreted faster. it will also make you feel fuller becuase it expands in your stomach and takes a long time to pss through the stomach into the small intenstine so you will probally eat less at a meal that has a lot of fiber. And last but not least fiber can not be digested by the body so it provides no calories!!!!!

be careful though, don’t jump up to 25 or 35 grams a day too quickly or you will get cramps, gas and bloating just because your body won’t know how to deal with such an increase. do it over a couple of weeks and enjoy all the benifits.

The Best Flying Websites

August 20th, 2008

The best flying websites on the internet today are not always the most commonly searched. Below are some great ways to find flying websites that have exactly what you’re looking for.

Flying websites can be overwhelming. Aviation itself requires an incredible amount of information, compounded by the need for up-to-the-minute weather and navigation. Many flying websites are overrun with streams of this info, added pilot jargon, and splattered with photos and ads that make it impossible for the average person to comprehend. For someone looking for basic information on aviation, or to learn how to fly, the more simple and easy to understand flying website is like a diamond in the rough.

For the aviation curious, student pilot websites may be a better term to search for. These rookie sites seem to understand the world of non-pilots, and are better suited to put things in layman’s terms. Student pilots themselves are learning too… and they have much the same questions as the person who hasn’t yet set foot in the cockpit of a flight trainer. Give a good hard look at these student flying clubs, and see what they have to offer.

The better flying websites on the internet will offer aviation articles. Articles about flying are the best way to learn what to expect during flight training, whether you’re a newly licensed pilot going for an instrument rating or a veteran reading up on the experiences of others. Look for a website listing a whole section dedicated to just aviation articles, and one that keeps those articles constantly updated with fresh content. That way when you return to the website after having been away for a while there will always be something new to catch up on.

Flying websites need to cater to pilots too, which is why the best ones will contain flight planning information and tools necessary to get in the air safely. Some websites even offer online pilot’s tools, such as a working E6B flight emulator. These on-page flight calculators are invaluable for the student and veteran pilot, helping with all manner of wind, speed, and temperature calculations. A good flying website will not only have these tools, but will also offer links to weather and navigation information from the National Weather Service and AirNav airport directory. There are even sites online that allow pilots to view free sectional charts, and save their pilot’s logs in an electronic format.

Avoid cluttered, overwhelming flying websites. If the index page throws 50 different things at you, it’s probably best to turn away. You’re looking for a human element here, a website run by people who fly and not by programmers assigned the task of streaming flight information across the screen in moving banners and blinking graphics. A good flying website has all that information and more… but arranges it in such a manner that you don’t get buried by it all at once.

In the end, you’ve got near unlimited choices when it comes to finding your online FBO (Fixed Base of Operations). Make sure you choose a flying website with structure - a site by pilots for pilots. If it feels like home, it will be home - much like your real FBO will be should you choose to adopt one. Fly safe, surf well, and above all have fun!

Be sure to visit Student Flying Club for more flying information including flight planning, aviation articles, and flight training tools, including fully-illustrated day-by-day written flight journals of actual student pilots.

Make Sure Your Skin Care Products Produce Results

August 20th, 2008

It is important that you insist on results from your skin care products and you should not settle for anything less especially if you have been trying to soothe your dry skin for some time. Choose products carefully and seek the right advice if your symptoms are very severe.

There are very few people who are actually blessed to have skin that is considered to be normal. The rest of the population have to deal with oily skin and the outbreak of spots; or dry skin and the fact that they are ageing well before their years or there are those who have to deal with a combination of both dryness and oiliness.

But if you do have dry skin then there is some good news with regards to its treatment as there are no many natural alternatives that are available. If you are not sure if you have dry skin then all you need to do is to take a good look in the mirror. If your skin feels rough or if it looks cracked and rough on the surface of the skin then it is quite likely that you are suffering from oily skin.

The good news is that today, there are several types of natural treatments to choose from for your dry skin.

There are a number of reasons as to why a person develops dry skin and a common cause of the occurrence is the taking of certain prescribed medications, and you should always consult your doctor or to read the instructions to see what possible side effects may take place prior to usage.

It is a fact that dry skin takes place more in the winter than in the summer. The reason for this is because the skin is exposed to the biting cold winds, and then when indoors the skin is exposed to high temperatures. This sudden change in temperature can and does cause a lot of havoc for the skin, and dryness is a consequence.

If you are looking to clear your dry skin and to avoid premature ageing then you need to adopt a natural skin care routine. And the best place to start is with your diet and making sure that is focused on eating fresh fruits and vegetables and staying off deep fried foods. Water is essential for the hydration of the skin so you need to be drinking no less than two liters of water on a daily basis.

Rather than needing to go to the shops or to view the Internet, you can use some very inexpensive products to help remedy dry skin. One of them is coconut oil. When cold this actually does solidify, so you are going to need to heat in order to obtain an actual liquid oil, that you can apply to your skin.

Coconut oil is very effective at soothing dry skin and it is also great for providing relief for a dry itchy scalp. It is best if you can apply the oil to your body or scalp and then to leave this overnight, and wash off in the morning.

Massage the oil well into the skin in order to allow it to deeply penetrate the skin. The effect is very soothing and it will also help you to sleep better to.

However should it be the case that regardless of what you do your dry skin does not seem to be showing any signs of improvement, then a visit to your doctor will be advised in order to obtain a full and correct diagnosis.

Mortgage Advice in Today’s Real Estate Market

August 20th, 2008

With the slowing housing market, rising interest rates and lenders tightening the reins on their mortgage qualification requirements, it’s extremely important to get the best mortgage at a good interest rate. Keep reading for four tips you can use to get the best mortgage in today’s residential real estate market.

1. Work on your credit.

If your credit score isn’t good, make the effort to work on rebuilding it. Now is not the time to accept a higher rate just because you have poor credit. Spend a year or two making sure all your payments get in on time, stop applying for new credit (because that actually works against your credit rating) and you will reduce the balance on your double-digit interest credit.

Because interest rates are already rising, you can’t afford to lock in at a credit penalty rate. Remember, taking an additional year or two before purchasing a home could save you tens of thousands of dollars over the life of the loan, so have patience.

2. Build a sizable down payment.

Having a strong down payment of 20% or more puts you in the driver’s seat and allows you to direct negotiations with lenders. Not only will you save on the need to purchase private mortgage insurance (PMI) and lower your interest rate, you’ll also walk into your home with pre-established home equity.

This will provide you backup equity in case of a financial emergency, and you’ll have a strong financial foundation that’s not easily rocked by economic instability.

If you’re having trouble coming up with a larger down payment, try accessing 401K reserves or negotiating a loan through financing from your family.

3. Opt for the stable lender.

With fly-by-night mortgage companies closing their doors and selling their loans on the secondary market, you want a lender that’s going to give you good customer service and do so for 30 years.

Don’t make the same mistake as the countless thousands who lost their homes because of bad lender decisions; opt for a stable, reputable lender. Look for a financial provider whose personnel answers your questions, doesn’t try to rush you and is genuinely interested in helping you get the best loan.

A legitimate lender won’t pressure you into quick and expensive decisions without addressing all your questions and concerns. So if anything about the process lending agreement is not clear, make sure you discuss it with the lender and assess their willingness to spend time with you.

If you’re stuck, ask around your neighborhood or seek family and friends for advice on their lenders. Having customer referrals from people you trust is invaluable, especially when you’re dealing with what it likely the largest expense of your life.

4. If interest rates are too high, don’t lock in.

While an adjustable rate mortgage (ARM) means your monthly mortgage payments can still go up with inflating interest rates, you also don’t want to lock yourself into a 30-year fixed rate mortgage with a high percentage.

Whatever you decide, remember that if you have substantial home equity and good credit, you can always renegotiate or refinance down the line if interest rates come back down.

Human Hair or Synthetic Wigs, An Article on Custom Hair Replacement

August 20th, 2008

People use wigs for a wide variety of reasons, from a fun costume enhancement for a Halloween party to a completely natural look to cover mortifying unintentional hair loss caused by such things as radiation and chemotherapy, or other medical and inherited conditions. Both men and women with thinning hair will find increased self-confidence from having a full head of hair with a natural-looking wig. Many people like to have several wigs available to provide a hairstyle befitting their mood. And wigs have always been an integral part of show business and the entertainment industry.

In fact you would probably be surprised at how many wigs you have seen on the heads of both men and woman and never suspected it was anything but their own natural hair.

The question of whether you should get a wig made of synthetic or human hair fibers is much a matter of what you intend to use it for, how long you will be needing the wig, how often you’ll wear it and that ever important factor of budget.

Synthetic wigs can be purchased in a large array of colors from jet black through the various shades of brown to blond, platinum blond and gray. You can, of course, also find synthetic wigs in the ever- popular costume colors of blue, purple, orange and green.

The human hair that goes into the making of a wig will usually come from Asia, Indonesia or Europe. Since human hair grows at a rate of approximately

Alcohol Abuse Effects-What Alcohol Does to Your Body and How to Break This Habit

August 20th, 2008

Alcohol abuse effects are widespread and very dangerous for the alcoholic, which is why you need to be aware of them. Whether you are a loved one wants to stop drinking, it’s important to understand what’s at stake here so that you can be extra motivated to quit.

Some of the more common traits that alcoholism brings about are vomiting, depression, an inflamed liver, a yellow skin color, frequent illness, etc. there are many more symptoms, but the bottom line is, if you leave your alcohol problem unattended, you very easily could wind up with liver problems and failure down the road.

At this point, it’s usually too late, and it’s unfortunate how many people die because of not being able to control their alcohol problems. Of course, this doesn’t even take into account the many people that alcoholics can hurt by drunk driving, not to mention the affect on their family by always coming home drunk.

Therefore, getting treatment as fast as possible is not optional, it’s essential if you want to live a healthy life. The first thing I’d recommend to help you stop is to join a group that will hold you accountable, such as alcoholics anonymous.

There’s a reason this group is so adapt at helping people stop drinking-by coming together with other people who are trying to accomplish the same goal, it provides a tremendous amount of encouragement versus just trying to succeed on your own.

The statistics bare this out as well-the vast majority who attempt to stop drinking by themselves are unsuccessful. This is true of stopping smoking as well. Just having that human interaction during this process is vital, and should not be overlooked.

While joining AA should be enough in and of itself to help you stop drinking, I will provide some more tips that you can implement right away. First of all, knowing why you drink is essential to stopping, because it shows you the root cause of it.

While many treatment programs only focus on the physical aspect of alcoholism and how to reduce your cravings, this does nothing for the mental aspect.

Quite simply, almost certainly you started drinking as a method to help you deal with stress of some sort, and when you eliminate alcohol, it does nothing but leave a vacuum that will likely be filled by another bad habit.

However, if you understand why you began drinking (or any bad habit, for that matter) you can deal with it much more effectively.

This brings me to my next point: once you’ve joined a program and have begun to eliminate the drinking habit, it’s imperative you find something else to fill your time with. it doesn’t have to be anything fancy-just hiking, reading, or anything else that captures your interest and takes your mind of alcohol.

Hopefully this info on alcohol abuse effects will encourage you to stop drinking as quickly as possible and get your life back on track.

Special Effects Using Camera Filters

August 20th, 2008

A glance through almost any magazine will display a flood of picture ads. For the most part, the special effects you see in these ads are created either through photo editing software or cameras fitted with special types of filters.

Many types of filters are available, each having a unique and specific function. For example, there are different filters for black and white, others for color photos, and some that are used for both. Additionally, there are also filters that enhance contrast while others improve the picture sharpness.

Below are brief descriptions of various filters and the effects they produce on pictures.

Cross and Star Effect Filters

Star effect flares are available in different points like star-eight and star-six. These flares are used for increasing image brightness and enhancing more difficult photos of theme parks, sun reflecting from glass surfaces, and street lights.

Like star filters, a cross filter is best for situations in which the person in the picture is wearing jewelry. It generates more dramatic effects to anything bright worn by the person.

Spectral cross filters are normally used in portraits and outdoor shots. They produce cross effects and soft-focus effects. These filters consist of two transparent optical glasses which are arranged in a rotating frame. A gauze-like black fiber is positioned between the two transparent glasses.

Made up of two glasses, Vario cross filters generate a special effect of four light rays emerging from a single point source of light. You can easily rotate each glass individually to change the angle of emerging rays of light.

Close-up Filters

This filter is better than a zoom lens. It is used for close-up photography and available in different diopters ranging from +1 to +10. The higher the number the, closer the capture.

Macro close-up filters with a +10 diopters rating with a two-element, two-group construction lens are used for capturing tiny objects such as flowers and insects.

With it, you can easily take a close up of only half the subject, retaining the other half in its normal size. This is helpful when you want to focus on both near and distant objects simultaneously.

Multivision Filters

Multivision filters find their niche when a single subject needs to be displayed in an individual photo repeatedly. These filters are available in ranges of 3F, 3PF, 6F, 6PF, and 5F. Each number represents the number of times an object will be duplicated in the picture. Moreover, different colors can be added to an image using color multivision filters.

Misty Spot Filters

Misty spot filters are used for emphasizing the primary focal point of the picture. For this purpose the background of the image is set to a blur with the image in its normal state to accentuate the subject in the foreground.

There are four different types of misty spot filters: breezing filters, gradual filters, windmill filters, and halo filters.

Diffusion Filters

Due to uneven or irregular surface, diffusion filters produce a soft focus effect. These are normally used for portrait shots.

Center Spot Filters

The center spot filter gives the center a sharp and clear image. The background, on the other hand, ends up with a romantic, foggy effect.

These filters enhance specific details of photos without the use of computer photo editing software.

Colon Cleansing Products - Why Should You Use It?

August 20th, 2008

You Don’t Have To Be A Doctor To Appreciate The Benefits Associated With Colon Cleansing Products!

Colon cleansing products are the latest trend among those that want to optimize their health. Recent studies in the area of digestive health have concluded that this part of the body has everything to do with a high level of health in all of the other areas of the body. Unfortunately, we often expose the digestive system to various types of toxins without even knowing it!

These toxins can behave much like an acid and simply consume all of the key nutrients, and other essentials away. If this does not occur, it is quite likely that toxins will then accumulate consistently. The body was not created to handle either of these conditions, so, the immunity is weakened and then sicknesses, disorders, and diseases begin to develop rapidly – slowly eating away at your health, and ultimately – your life!

What is Colon Cleansing?

The colon of the body is actually the same thing as the large intestine. The large intestine has a very important role when it comes to eliminating the things that we consume. Surprisingly, this area of the body works to store waste. The colon also reabsorbs water and balances it appropriately throughout the body. The count that we have of electrolytes is kept at optimal level when the large intestine functions as required. This area is more or less, the delicate balance and deciding point for the body to take what is needed and then do away with the rest. Colon cleansing is a process in which a product or a group of products are used in order to eliminate the toxins that may be lingering inside the intestinal walls.

What Are Colon Cleansing Products?

There are many products available today that work to actually “flush” the body. These products are generally taken over a short period time and on a regular basis to ensure that all of the toxins within the reaches are successfully cleaned out. In addition to cleaning out this area of the body, these products often leave behind healthy forms of bacteria, nutrients, and other essentials that are considered to be effective in promoting digestive health. Ultimately, the main type of colon cleanser is sold in a fiber supplement drink product. However, there are a number of other types of colon cleansing products that are not sold in a drink mix that specializes in providing fiber to the diet. These products may include:

1.Herbal Cleansing Products

2.Pills

3.Whole Supplements

4.Mixtures

5.Teas

Conclusion

Colon cleansing products have been found to be safe and effective for the individual who wishes to optimize their health. Digestive health is a key component to determining what other health issues an individual may experience. This means that you should do everything in your power in order to ensure that the potential toxins in your body are not permitted to have an effect on other areas of your body. By taking the time to determine if colon cleansing is for you, and selecting the right colon cleansing products, you are investing your time and energy into something extremely beneficial – a healthy life!
